Being home

Published by avicious under Uncategorized

Being home, originally uploaded by AVicious.

I found a nice spot on a rock in the sunshine, much like the lizards do, to write this post. I am spending a couple of days in San Diego countryside at my parents house for the holidays. When you are gone for awhile you forget the beauty of your childhood home. Completely surrounded by mountains and feeling the crisp air meet the sunshine, I am happy and inspired. For a couple weeks now I have been thinking up ideas of what nature scapes to introduce to the indoor Transfer performance shoot. The concept, bring the outdoors indoors. Fairly simple. Now, sitting amongst the trees and rocks I think I have found where the hammer and nail meet.

As the project progresses I will be posting pictures and mockups to keep you in the loop as to the progress of our efforts.

Random Update for 12.20.08

Published by avicious under Uncategorized

White Noise & VJ JRS - Casbah Night
This week we have been laying low. The video from last week’s show is almost done and we will upload that as soon as it is polished. Other than that White Noise has gone back to work and is currently wrapping up a commercial shoot as I have been hitting the Quartz Composer research material in an attempt to learn this program in a short amount of time. The QC Guide is very informative (70+ pages) and I have been able to learn the basics of this powerful program. The goal is to work Compositions into the sets as visual basslines in that they will play under the visuals that we mix over the stop. That was we can have a channel dedicated beat locked and have the top channels working to enhance. Other that that we have the following events we will be working on:
1) “Goobye George” Party at the Whistle Stop Bar in San Diego
2) Museum of Contemporary Art SD pitch

Transfer is in the studio for the month working on the final stages of the new album so we won’t have much happening on live shows for them until next year. Who knows though, we may pull a NYE show out of the bag but as for now nothing is planned. Now, movie night………

Modlife – Transfer & AVicious

Published by avicious under Front Lines

ModLife

Transfer is the new featured band on Modlife, new social networking site founded by Tom DeLonge of Blink 182 and Angels&Airwaves fame, and so this weekend the Modlife Bus will be making a stop at the Casbah for this weekend’s shows. Just tonight we participated in an online “Mod Blast” that had members of the Silent Comedy giving us the lowdown about what is going on in their world these days. Looks for some video and mod blasts of our own very soon!

AVicious Casbah layout preview

Published by avicious under Uncategorized

AVicious Casbah layout preview, originally uploaded by AVicious.

White Noise and I got together tonight to work on our upcoming double show
at the Casbah with Transfer and friends. The show is going to be a packed
event as each band on the bill is headliner in their own right. The setup
with consist of two projects with three sets of video sends that will run
two separate content feeds.
1. Main Screen and four horizontal cubes will run the main feed from VJ JRS
2. The four cubes in square formation on the wall will run the camera fx
feed from White Noise
3. The two TVs will also run the camera fx feed from White Noise
Now that the basic setup is complete we can move on to getting the visuals
set and the rigging planned. The good news is that we can leave the setup in
place overnight and return the next night. The bad news…. There is none.
Should be a damn good show.
We have two more rehearsals scheduled and one run-through with the band
prior to the show. We will update you and to what progress we have made.

New “Fire” Themed loop demo up

Published by avicious under Loops

Sitting around an old washing machine drum that had been converted into a rather nice fire-pit, I was able to capture some burst images and create the following loop sections.
