After finishing up a lecture on VJ’ing at San Diego High Tech High, good friend David Mishoulam and I rolled into the Belly Up and started to setup. We had hit up Neighborhood, a burger and beer joint in Downtown San Diego and were suffering from an incredible food coma. A couple 5-hour energy drinks later we were up and ready to roll (at least in theory). I would not recommend the veggie burger at this joint. Messed me up something proper. The beer is delicious though. The new projector mount was great. It locked and was focused within 15-min (10 of which were spent trying to figure out where on the grid we could avoid an errant dimmer and have solid power. We figured it out (hint, the projector currently installed there controls the power). White Noise rolled into from LA a bit after doors and spent a couple of beers talking over the show. Transfer took the stage and we fired away. That lasted about 1-song as we had a cable get hit hard and had to rush to get White Noise’s rig back online. Mine was still going so I just kept playing and monitoring the channel until he came back online. It took a couple minutes but we were back on and only missed “You are the Wolf” together. There rest of the show went smooth enough. A couple of rough patches but White Noise and I are finally getting a bit of a rhythm down. It was great to play a sold out show and hopefully we can roll into one more tonight as we take it to Spaceland to improve and rock it for another night!!

Here are some photos of us creating a new projector mount. The design was inspired by Momo the Monster but we tweaked it up a bit to be a little lighter and also to not have the problem locking it down without the knobs getting in the way. Check out the photos below and also on our FLICKR SITE

So for years I was working very hard to be a live show director. I had worked with a really good director over at MTV who subsequently went to work for Jimmy Kimmel. Needless to say I always got the biggest thrill out of working from the truck – especially when the music ROCKED!! Musicians like Jason Mraz, POD, Swithfoot, Karl Benson, Alfred Howard & the K23 Orchestra, Transfer, Dirty Sweet and many, many more are featured. I have been sorting out all my old work and decided it would be a great idea to post the performances to this site. I am very proud of all the folks who helped out in the truck, the camera peeps and also the stage managers that had to track down our crazy host and the talent from the bar.
