Got this from Create Digital Motion who do a wonderful job tracking down information and events revolving around motion and visualists. If you are on twitter, here are a few people to follow: @memotv / @cdmblogs / @peterkirn / @AVicious
Was on my bike when I came upon a military surplus shop on Venice Blvd. Was about to walk out when I saw a back room with a good amount of flight cases similar to Pelican Cases. I found one in great shape, made for night vision gear and cheap – I bought the thing. The foam in the inside is near perfect condition and required a few cuts to make it fit perfectly. Best purchase in a long time. $30 bucks.

Has a good warning for visualists on the new OS 10.5.7 – apparently it may be causing second monitor resolution problems for DVI outs. Not good. Also PBS has some content our tax dollars pay for available online. Grab it. Cut and twist and spit it back out in your own vision.
Ok, confession time. I have waited until now to purchase an iPhone. Why you ask? Because I was a Blackberry user for a long time and was not open to change. Also, because copy and paste it friggin’ huge to me. With the impending release of iPhone OS 3.0 this summer I decided it was finally time to join the ranks of the chronically annoying and buy one. Alongside of this push was also the ability to utilize OSC (Open Sound Control), for the first time. So I bought the phone, hung out at Jeremy’s house, had sushi and then raced home to download the OSCTouch app from the iTunes Store. It took me one bad video tutorial (don’t worry, I won’t link), and one excellent one to get it up and running with VDMX but once I did I was flooded with ideas for how to take advantage of this new and powerful tool. Ok, truth check #2 – I thought it would be fun to mess with Jeremy and put pornographic images up on the screen while he was VJ’ing at our next set but that would just be stupid (and funny). Once I had VDMX running smoothly I jumped over to OSCulator and started to program the MIDI translation that would allow us to utilize the device with Livid Union which we will be running this weekend. I am almost finished and will let you know how it goes very soon but……
hmmm, I forgot something – the point of the blog!
OSCTouch creater hexler.net is working on the ever delayed release of the OSCTouch Interface Editor. The software will allow for custom interface creation without the “jailbreaking” required now to make it happen. The editor will allow for a higher level of customization and control that is much needed with so many OSC and MIDI compliant software setups out there.
