LAFAYETTE HOTEL & SUITES IN SAN DIEGO

Lafayette Hotel SD, LafayetteHotelSD.comWelcome to Lafayette Hotel & Suites San Diego where Hollywood's most glamorous stars came night after night to what was the hotel's fashionable Mississippi Ballroom to drink, dine and dance to the music of Ted Fio Rito and other top-drawer big bands.

The hotel's popularity and tradition of gracious hospitality continues today. This elegant Colonial-style mansion is a San Diego landmark and has maintained its elegant charm in serving as your Historic San Diego Hollywood star connection.

Built by playboy homebuilder Larry Imig in 1946 the resort hotel enjoyed unparalleled success. In addition to its impressive guest list, several prominent local figures were permanent residents, including clothier Bill Solof, restaurateur Ray Lubach and San Diego Padre baseball managers Lefty O'Doul and Bucky Harris. True to its original structure is the Olympic-size terrazzo tile swimming pool, designed by Tarzan’s Johnny Weissmuller.

Although the final echoes of the big bands have died away, entertainment still continues nightly at the long-established Red Fox Room and Piano Bar which serves exceptional American Cuisine in a casual atmosphere; or enjoy the “L” Bar & Grill’s poolside patio.

How do you play the same venues with the same lights as everyone else and hope to stand out from the crowd? The divide between music and video performance is blurring at a rapid pace. Many of the tools and techniques that were once out of price range are now available to the average consumer and creative people are latching on to create an entirely new industry right under our noses. Today's Visualists & VJs are time-based improvisational artists that draw from filmmaking, music, design and coding to create their work. Panelists will be discussing what it takes to become a visual performer, current hardware & software of the trade and how to increase the production value of your performance with a few simple tools you probably already have.

Panelists include John-Ryan Shea (AVicious), Jeremy Glaholt (AVicious), Matthew Molarius (Transfer & Obscure Magpie) and Matthew Fraynd (Glorybound Productions).
