“Air Conditioned remains our catch-all club. Just enough North Park, just enough Normal Heights; a little ritzy, a little kitschy. And judging by this pic, the place is still luring PYTs to come out and play. Boombox Thursdays is the night to catch the club-crawlers who can’t wait for the weekend, with DJ Groundfloor and Edgartronic spinning their booty-shaking mix of electro and dance-floor favorites.“

Hollywood’s premier nightclub, restaurant, lounge, event venue and movie theater, is the brainchild of two MTV staffers who wanted to create a down-to-earth space in LA where everyone felt welcome and there was a mix of all the things they loved in one place- music, art, dancing, film and great food! David Dickerson came up with the design, a cross between the Brew-n-Views back East and the atheistic from the classic film, Blade Runner, and along with co-owners, Errol and Kimberly Roussel, he set out to create not just a great visual space but one that offered the best sound system in Southern California.

When the venue first opened, an event producer brought a band to perform, and ever since, cinespace has been home to some of the best live music in the world. Countless mainstream bands have broken at cinespace, and legendary performers like Los Lobos, Billy Gibbons and Roger Daltrey have graced the main stage. Celebrities have always enjoyed the relaxed atmospheres, and many A-listers consider cinespace to be among their favorite spots to let their hair down.

Today, cinespace continues to support artists, filmmakers and new music. The event staff offers a unprecedented variety of services, and the venue has become a favorite location for movie, TV, music video and commercial shoots.

LAFAYETTE HOTEL & SUITES IN SAN DIEGO

Lafayette Hotel SD, LafayetteHotelSD.comWelcome to Lafayette Hotel & Suites San Diego where Hollywood's most glamorous stars came night after night to what was the hotel's fashionable Mississippi Ballroom to drink, dine and dance to the music of Ted Fio Rito and other top-drawer big bands.

The hotel's popularity and tradition of gracious hospitality continues today. This elegant Colonial-style mansion is a San Diego landmark and has maintained its elegant charm in serving as your Historic San Diego Hollywood star connection.

Built by playboy homebuilder Larry Imig in 1946 the resort hotel enjoyed unparalleled success. In addition to its impressive guest list, several prominent local figures were permanent residents, including clothier Bill Solof, restaurateur Ray Lubach and San Diego Padre baseball managers Lefty O'Doul and Bucky Harris. True to its original structure is the Olympic-size terrazzo tile swimming pool, designed by Tarzan’s Johnny Weissmuller.

Although the final echoes of the big bands have died away, entertainment still continues nightly at the long-established Red Fox Room and Piano Bar which serves exceptional American Cuisine in a casual atmosphere; or enjoy the “L” Bar & Grill’s poolside patio.

There are local shows that have been supporting local bands in San Diego for years. Now, X1FM.com has joined the ranks of these local supporters and are inviting local bands to perform on their new local music show called Open Door Sessions. With a brand new performance studio, host Andrew Wehrung will make the bands feel right at home.

Open Door Sessions is a local music show with a twist. The show kicks off with an hour of local music from 6p to 7p then, a FREE in-studio performance from 7p to 8p by the featured local band of the week. This is an excellent opportunity for bands to get both video and audio of their performance AND have a few of their friends and fans enjoy the live performance.

X1FM created a 100% interactive “LIVE” broadband radio station, which is an audio and visual experience that transforms the old concept of what is traditional terrestrial radio to another level of communication. It is pretty cool because it is essentially a “Live Digital Broadband Radio” which is a revolutionary concept and vision that is the first of it’s kind on the world wide web.

The Casbah has been open since 1989. Its first location (pictured left) had a legal capacity of 75 and hosted such bands as: Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, Lemonheads, The Jesus Lizard, and Rocket From The Crypt.

In the beginning of '94 we moved just down the road to our larger, plusher quarters and the rest is history. Our "new" location has a capacity of 200+, there is an enclosed smoking patio, a back room featuring pool tables, pinball, the classic video game Galaga, and a full bar. There is also a music room with a full bar and a state-of-the-art 24 channel Yamaha, JBL, QSC, Crest sound system.

Some of the bands that have played at our current location include: Boss Hog, Alanis Morissette, Morphine, the Amps, The Breeders, Elastica, Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, Royal Crown Revue, Supersuckers, Ben Harper, Liz Phair, G Love & Special Sauce, Social Distortion, The Cult, and local acts such as Rocket From The Crypt, fluf, Drive Like Jehu, Three Mile Pilot, Creedle, the Rugburns, Tanner, Blackheart Procession, etc..

The Casbah features live music at least 6, often 7 nights a week with cover charges usually varying from "$0 to $10". Patrons must be 21 with a valid ID. Our hours are 8:30pm-2am.

Other Info
TRANSFER & AVicious take the stage for a freshy new set. On the bill: BAND OF SKULLS (UK) and brothers, APES OF WRATH. Don't wanna miss this one!
